2012. A new year, an opportunity to restart mid-continuity, a chance to refigure, reconstruct. Here’s wishing you and your family every positive prospect the year has to offer.
Before I head over to this week’s post, and what is the last of the Holiday Muffin Monday series, I’d like to congratulate Rosa Mayland for winning a copy of The Ultimate Muffin Book. Your copy is on the way Rosa, hope you enjoy it just as much as I did.
Nine weeks of indulgence has certainly contributed to the inches, and before we wrap up with these decadent Oreo Muffins, I thought I’ll give you a tour of what we baked through the holidays.
So here’s a quick kick start to 2012: in under 15 minutes they are in the oven. I replaced the margarine with butter and that combined with the milk and sour cream kept the muffins rich and soft. I saved a couple of the couple of the Oreos and added it on top as a crumble.
An easy whip up of pantry staples yielding soft, rich and delicious muffins.
- 13/4 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup milk
- ⅓ cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup margarine
- 20 oreo cookies
- In medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt, set aside
- In small bowl, combine milk, sour cream, and egg
- Stir the egg mixture in to the flour mixture with margarine until just blended
- Gently stir in the cookies
- Spoon batter 12 greased 2½ inch muffin pan cups.
- Bake at 400 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Remove from pan, cool on wire rack.
- Serve warm or cold.

All the muffins look fantastic as always :) These oreo ones sound killer though! My hubby has a bit of an oreo addiction but doesn’t like muffins. I’ll make them and tell him they are cupcakes lol he won’t know the difference and I am sure will eat them up.
I think these are my favorite so far. I cannot imagine one for breakfast or more so I could totally devour 3 for breakfast. They look amazing.
Oh yeah! These are making my mouth water!! Wish I had one (or two) for breakfast right now! :)
Boy would these make my family happy! Enjoy your week. :)
When I read under 15 minutes. I thought it is for me but it needs Oreo cookies. Oh boy! they look so good on the black background. I really want to pick from my screen.
oh my!! I’ve only had Oreos in a cupcake. Since they are in a muffin, does that mean I can eat them for breakfast?!
I’m not on a New Years diet so I’d be quite happy to have some of these! They really look fantastic.
Wow! I love Oreos and these look wonderful!
Happy New Year to you! I hope it brings you all you desire!
Those muffins?! ::faints:: what just happened?? OMG Oreo muffins! ::faints:: ….

Those are GORGEOUS, luv! I would’ve thought they’d end up “dirty” looking, but they’re lovely!! Well done. :-)
What are you doing to me??? I’m on a diet and I want these SOOOO bad now! Thanks a lot, I just mentally broke my Resolution! :) Love this, have to save it for when I will allow myself such things
I love those little striped paper cups! These muffins look like a great kickoff for a new year of muffins.
Oh man, these look way too tasty!! :) I am not huge on oreos by themselves, but somehow they are the perfect ingredient in other things. Mmmmm.
You had me at oreos and you won me over with all of those pictures of muffins! I can eat these for breakfast, right?
Oh yes! These are perfect for breakfast!
I don’t think I have seen such amazing collection of muffin recipes as in your blog. Great round up and these oreo muffin gota taste just amazing.
Congrats on Top 9!! Where else would they be? These look great! And using it for the crumble is perfect! I so need to make these.
Thanks Ping! I promise you wont be disappointed.
WOW! What a collection of muffins! However, it does look like you saved the best for last! Come on – Oreos are the best and now you muffintize them?! :) YUMMY!
I love the word muffintize. Heh. Thanks MJ.
My only question is why haven’t I seen you on Cupcake wars yet? You would certainly take the cake (no pun intended). Those oreo muffins are gorgeous and your collection is truly creative! A happy new year to you and I look forward to sharing more in the new year.
Congratulations on Top 9!
Thanks Sandra!
All of those muffins look awesome! Very creative!
These look perfect, I can’t wait to bake them. Thank you so much for sharing and congrats on Top 9!
I finally popped open the laptop! Oh, this I shall enjoy with ice-cold milk: perfect Oreo companion.
My diet starts in February (after Valentines Day… just bein’ real) – So bring ON these muffins! I have a batch of Oreo cookie dough in my fridge so this is happenin’. Totally happenin’…
These look incredible! There is nothing I like better than a good muffin…add oreos, and it’s perfection. Happy New Year!
Yum! That muffin looks insane!! Happy New Year!
Pretty muffins n gr8 clicks..
Oh man, Oreos in a muffin!? Yes please! These look absolutely amazing! Happy New Year!
Wow these muffins look delicious!!!
I never would have thought to add oreos to a muffin, but it sounds wonderful! I could see myself having some with oreo ice cream on the side ;)! Congrats on the Top 9 :)!
My daughter would love those! She swears that putting an Oreo on top makes everything better! Hope you have a wonderful year as well!
Great muffins! Anything with Oreos and I am in!
Congratulations to Rosa! And butter, buttermilk and sour cream? These must be super moist and tasty! But I don’t like oreos so I’d switch them out with either chocolate chips or blueberries! Love this recipe!
You put Oreos in a muffin, which makes you my hero.
I think I’m missing the buttermilk in the recipe. Or do I just replace milk with buttermilk? :)
To substitute 1 cup of buttermilk, use 1 cup milk + 1 teaspoon vinegar and set aside for 5-7 minutes. When it begins to curdle, its ready. This recipe however calls for only milk and I suggest you go with that. It wouldn’t disappoint.
Happy Baking! :)
Would love to try these. They look amazing!!!
I must list Oreo as magic baking ingredient immediately :)
That looks so good and very creative use of the Oreo Cookies, will give a try some time soon.
oreo muffins?! I can’t think of anything better!
These look just decadent!
These look soooooo good!
Thanks Lottie!
these look amazing, but i noticed you having baking soda in the ingredients, but it is not used in the instructions. I was wondering if it was suppose to be mixed in with the flour mix?
Thanks Kacie! Thanks for pointing that out. You need to mix it in with the flour.
Happy Baking!

hello,
I was just wondering about the way you add the oreo’s in the dough – do you crumble them and then add to bowl.? cos I see some of the crumbles are left on top
Hey Natalie,
You need to add crushed (roughly broken into small pieces) cookies to the bowl. But I saved a couple to use them on the top as well. :)
Happy Baking!

I’ve made those.! https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/551095_3488357409453_1564274704_n.jpg what I’ve found interesting is to buy the mini oreos, and crush them into pieces but leave them only for the top, and to the batter add whole cookies, it makes nice outcome
I just took them out of the oven and they turned out LOVELY. I ate two already and have to try very hard to resist eating all of them in one go! I used butter instead of margarine and substituted baking soda with baking powder seeing as it’s hard to come by in Poland. Thanks for the recipe!
Woohoo! This is one of my favorite muffin recipes! So glad it turned out well for you too! :)
