Yes, you heard that right. It’s rich, chocolaty and laced with rum! And you know you want one.
When it is about getting together with friends amidst our hectic schedules, a Sunday brunch is the perfect time to catch up. A moment where you can just let go of all the stress, hold a glass of wine and spend an afternoon with laughter, delicious food, recall nostalgic moments and create new memorable ones.
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, plus butter for greasing the baking pan (optional)
- Nonstick cooking spray (optional)
- 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- ½ cup unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- 2½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon kosher or coarse salt
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup dark rum ( You could even go up to ⅓ cup)
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Generously butter a 13-by-9–inch baking pan or spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
- Place the butter and chocolate in a medium-size saucepan over low heat and let melt together, stirring until smooth. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the cocoa powder, sugar and salt, then blend in the vanilla. Beat in the eggs one at a time, stirring to mix quickly so they don’t have a chance to cook at all before they are blended in. Blend in the flour. Gently stir in the rum.
- Scrape the thick batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake until the edges just begin to pull away from the sides of the pan and a wooden skewer or toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack. When completely cool, cut them into 12 or 24

I would be satisfied with just having some of those fudgy chocolate brownies!
I love a brownie that knows how to hold its liquor. Why hasn’t this been done before? It’s genius. And they look absolutely decadent.

Rum-laced brownies. Spectacular!
I am constantly in search of the perfect brownie. I have yet to find something that fudgy enough for my brownie tastes, but these, these look amazing!!
OK, you’re right–I totally do want one. You’re putting my fabulous brownies from earlier this week to shame (hangs head).
Rum and brownies sound like a brunch to remember!! I have a major savory tooth at lunch, so it’s usually a really good bagel stuffed with ridiculous amounts of salmon and cream cheese.
This looks incredible!
They look so fudgy and moist, amazing! I bet that splash of rum tastes incredible too. Lovely grown-up brownies.
Lots of giveaways going on and you are so generous! Ohhh rum laced fudgy brownies. YUM sounds and looks amazing! I haven’t allowed myself to eat brownie for a while. I used to enjoy more but now what I eat is what I look….ugh. Wish I could have just a tiny piece to enjoy and indulge myself without worrying about weight! I follow you everywhere. :-)
Sorry I missed your giveaway…looks like a great book :)
And these brownies look like fudge heaven!
They look really yummy, I’ve only just started baking and love finding fab new recipes!
